About
From Dodging Teeth to Corporate Boardrooms: Veterinarian Keynote Speaker on Uncertainty
I am currently based in Calgary, Alberta. But for almost 3 decades, I worked as a veterinarian around the world in diverse roles; small animal, zoo and wildlife, conservation research, industry, research and more. In these high-stakes environments, I have had to build trust and lead new teams in minutes, not months—while making life-and-death decisions with incomplete information.
This experience, combined with roles as an entrepreneur, research scientist (leading a $1M project), and Fortune Global 500 experience, taught me a fundamental truth. The most adaptable teams are the most successful. My unique expertise is validated by recognition in a few areas:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (Honors)
- Nestle Purina’s PVD Innovator of the Year
- 2022 Women of Inspiration™ Award Nominee
- Author of The Reluctant Creative
- Creative Problem Solving Facilitator Level 2
- Certificate of Professional Management
- Accredited IAM Ambiguity Assessment Facilitator.
The Big Discovery: Creativity is a Survival Skill, Not an Art Class
Along the way, I wrote a book (The Reluctant Creative), published in medical journals, worked across the world; zoos in the US and Canada, remote areas of Thailand with wildlife, cattle in Australia, Emergency Rooms in Florida, general practices in Saipan, for a global Fortune 500 company, wildlife rehabilitation programs, volunteering in Cook Islands, led a $1M medical research project, and even took the stage for stand-up comedy. The same pattern is everywhere: the core principles that help a veterinary team navigate a crisis are the same ones that help a corporate team innovate and adapt in change. This crisis navigation framework is now formalized in my 3C Method™ for leaders
I learned that it’s not about being “artistic.” It’s about developing the courage to be curious, the resilience to embrace ambiguity, and the tools to solve problems in new ways. This is the common thread that drives successful outcomes, whether you’re in a complex surgical case or a jungle in Thailand.
How I Help Your Team Thrive Through Change
My keynotes and workshops are designed to be fun, interactive, and packed with practical, evidence-based strategies that create immediate impact. Kind of like a Keynote Mullet: Fun up front, data in the back. Creative teams lose half as many employees, and empower three times more employees to innovate. I don’t just talk about creativity; I give your team the tools to build it using my proven frameworks.
Imagine your analytical team confidently tackling your biggest challenges, to build psychological safety so they can see opportunities where others see obstacles. Then, with optimism and confidence, they drive creativity and innovation that sets you apart from competitors. Start transforming uncertainty and ambiguity into possibility.
My DANCE Habits™ framework provides a practical blueprint for individuals to cultivate creative confidence daily, while my 3C Method™ equips leaders to confidently guide their teams through ambiguity.
Together, we focus on:
- Everyday Innovation: Discover how to find novel solutions to your most chronic problems
- Resilient, Change-Ready Teams: Equip your leaders and staff with the confidence to navigate uncertainty with courage
- Engagement & Well-being: Foster a positive workplace culture where people feel safe to speak up, contribute their best ideas, and take smart risks
- Data-Driven Decision-Making: Learn why leaders instinctively avoid creative ideas and how your team can react with data, a key leadership skill, to champion game-changing solutions
