I’m here with Ry and with Cheryl-Anne, and Quanda.

So, what I’m asking, and Ry is going to go first: what is one thing that you do as a speaker to share your unique point of view with the world when you’re worried about what others are going to think about you? What’s one technique that helps you get over that fear of judgement?

Ry

Oh, I love the mirror technique. Literally, practice in the mirror saying that you love yourself. You are worthy. You have value. And you are going to help these people that you’re speaking to.

Caroline

Awesome.

Quanda

I’m going to use a little bit of humour

Caroline

A little bit of humour. Just not taking yourself so seriously?

Quanda

Yeah, exactly.

Caroline

Awesome.

Cheryl-Ann

I just try and learn my audience and find one thing. Like just one thing that I can find relatable between them and me and share it immediately when I get on the stage.

Caroline

So kind of focus on them, and what’s related to them?

Cheryl-Ann

That’s right.

Caroline

That’s awesome. Thank you so much ladies.

We are here at the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers conference and if there is anybody in the world that can help you overcome your fear of judgement to sharing your message with the world, it’s the people right here.

Cheryl-Ann

Absolutely.
